Elon Musk, CEO of both Twitter and Tesla is launching a new artificial intelligence business called X.AI Corp. The business tycoon created a new corporation to compete with OpenAI in the artificial intelligence startup field.
Musk is reportedly assembling a team of AI experts, researchers, and engineers to work on the project. Two scientists, including project leader Igor Babushckin, have just joined the team from Alphabet-owned DeepMind.
According to public documents, the Nevada-based firm was formally established on March 9. According to the filings, Musk is the company’s sole director, and money manager Jared Birchall, a former Morgan Stanley banker, is named the company’s secretary.
Reports suggest that the AI startup is part of a grander scheme to develop an “everything app” under the name “X.” Musk said this week that Twitter Inc. had changed its legal status from Delaware to Nevada after merging with a new parent firm called X Corp.
Recently, Musk voiced his displeasure with ChatGPT, saying that it is too “woke” and labeling it a “closed source, maximum-profit company effectively controlled by Microsoft.” In February, he tweeted that “What we need is TruthGPT.”
