Nothing Ear 1 and Ear 2 What is the difference

Nothing, a technology company founded by Carl Pei, released its new earbuds on 22nd March, the Nothing Ear 2. These earbuds come with a unique transparent design, noise cancellation, and exceptional sound quality. But how do they compare to their predecessor, the Nothing Ear 1?

The Nothing Ear 1 was also released with an attractive design and active noise cancellation, making it a popular choice among wireless earbud enthusiasts.

However, the Ear 2 boasts improved sound quality, a longer battery life, and better active noise cancellation performance.

Despite these upgrades, Ear 2 is more expensive than Ear 1. So, which one should you choose? In this article, we will compare the features, price, and performance of the Nothing Ear 2 and the Ear 1 to help you make an informed decision.

Design and compatibility with different devices

Nothing Ear 2 and Ear 1 have a unique transparent design and a charging case. The Ear 2 charging case also features wireless charging.

Both earbuds are compatible with Bluetooth-enabled devices, including smartphones, laptops, and tablets. They also support wireless charging. Ear 1 and 2 have touch controls on the earbuds for easy playback and volume control.

Overall, the design and compatibility of both earbuds are similar, with Ear 2 offering a few extra features.

Microphone

Nothing Ear 2 and Ear 1 come with microphones that allow you to take calls and use voice commands. However, Ear 2 has improved microphone performance compared to Ear 1.

The Ear 2 features three microphones on each earbud, including two external microphones and one internal microphone. This setup improves noise cancellation during calls and provides clearer audio. On the other hand, Ear 1 has three microphones too.

Both earbuds also come with a transparency mode that lets you to hear your surroundings while still wearing the earbuds. The Ear 2 has a more advanced transparency mode that uses external microphones to amplify ambient noise, making it easier to hear conversations and announcements without taking the earbuds out.

If microphone performance is your priority, Ear 2 would be the better choice.

Price in India

In India, Nothing Ear 2 is higher than the price of Ear 1. As of 1st April 2023, Ear 2 is priced at Rs. 9,999, while Ear 1 is priced at Rs. 7299.

Ear 2 is more expensive because it has improved features such as better sound quality, longer battery life, and enhanced noise cancellation.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly option, the Ear 1 may be the better choice, as it still offers good sound quality and noise cancellation at a lower price point. However, Ear 2 would be the better choice if you’re willing to spend more on additional features and improved performance.

Battery life and chargers

The Nothing Ear 2 has a longer battery life than the Ear 1. Ear 2 can last up to 36 hours of music playback after a full charge of the charging case with ANC turned off, while Ear 1 can last up to 4 hours, 30 minutes with ANC turned on, and 6 hours with ANC off

Both earbuds come with USB Type-C charging cables, but the Ear 2 also includes a wireless charging option. The Ear 2 charging case can be charged wirelessly using any Qi-enabled charger, while the Ear 1 can only be charged via the USB Type-C cable and wireless too.

Sound quality

Both the Nothing Ear 2 and Ear 1 offer impressive sound quality, but the Ear 2 offers some improvements over its predecessor. Ear 2 has a 12.6mm driver, while Ear 1 has an 11.6mm driver, which means Ear 2 can deliver deeper bass and more transparent mids and highs. The Ear 2 also has a more balanced sound signature, making it suitable for various music genres.

The Ear 1 also offers the excellent sound quality, clear audio, and good bass. However, some users have reported that the bass can sometimes be overpowering, and the overall sound signature may not be as balanced as the Ear 2.

Color options available

When it’s about picking earbuds, a gradient is often a factor that people consider. While some may prefer a sleek black look, others may opt for a brighter white option. However, options can sometimes be limited when it comes to the available colors for specific earbuds.

In the case of “Nothing 1” earbuds, the only colors available are black and white. While this may be disappointing for those hoping for more options, it’s important to remember that color is just one aspect of the earbuds. It’s also worth noting that black and white are classic, timeless colors that can match various styles and preferences.

On the other hand, the “nothing 2” earbuds appear to only be known in white. While this may limit the options for those hoping for a darker color, the benefits of white earbuds are worth considering. White is an immaculate and contemporary color that can give a reenergized look to any outfit or style.

Ultimately, while color can be an essential factor in choosing earbuds, it’s important to consider other factors such as sound quality, comfort, and overall design. With the right combination of features, even limited color options can still provide an excellent listening experience.
